ASK Brooklyn Museum is a new initiative which empowers visitors to ask questions using their mobile devices as they explore the galleries. Experts answer incoming queries in real time.
ASK uses beacons installed in the galleries to indicate where a visitor is standing, so the ASK team can better answer their questions. The data from the project—in the form of questions and answers—will be used to help the Museum learn ways it can improve upon the visitor experience.
The project is being developed with a user-centered approach for concept, design, and build. Agile planning methodology is being used to test ideas directly with visitors.
Powered seating is provided in the Brooklyn Museum lobby so visitors can relax and easily charge their devices.
ASK is a three year project funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies as part of their Bloomberg Connects program.
